What?! Is the sky falling down or something?

Really, life isn't that interesting. But who says you can't write about it anyway?

Thank God there are sports.

Terrible week. 2 tests that should have been easier than they were. For Biology, he asked some obscure questions that screwed over my free response score. It wasn't terribly bad though. For Chemistry, our professor did not go as far as he did last year so he had to find more obscure things to test us on to compensate for it. I wonder if I passed...it wasn't that bad, but still...
Sports saved me. I was sort of rooting for Barcelona in the UEFA Championship Final on Wednesday and then they won! I caught the first 15 minutes of it, went to class, and then watched the last half hour. So I missed the first goal by Arsenal and the whole controversy with the goalkeeper. I didn't even know that there was a differently goalkeeper because the first one got a red card, or that Arsenal had 1 less player out there than Barcelona. It still was entertaining, in my opinion. Anyway...I've also been watching some track on TV. FSN showed some tapes of collegiate championships. I can't believe I missed the Penn relays this year! It was a tradition for me ever since 8th or 9th grade. I guess that happens when you don't have cable hooked up to your computer...like I do now! I'm going to be recording a lot of the French Open. I probably won't watch all that I will record (it will be like 8 hours on Tuesday and Thursday since I miss basically all of the coverage) but keep track of interesting match-ups and my favorite players. They better show Mario on TV!

As for Mario, he had another great week on clay. He got to the semifinals! Tommy Robredo and Radek Stepanek are duking it out in the final, which right now Tommy's leading 2 sets to 0. Tommy will be back in the top 10 for sure, and Ancic will be 11th or something. Congrats to my favorite players!

I would have died...

...in order to see that match between Nadal and Federer in Rome. Really, 5 hours and 5 minutes of slugging, with a 5th set tiebreak. 6-7 (0-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5). Insane. They should rematch at Roland Garros. Other than Robredo and Safin, my boys did pretty well here. Ancic got to the quarters and lost to Nalbandian (no surprise), and Monfils got to the semis! He was awesome! Well Robredo better do well at Hamburg. He's blogging this week (yay!) so the longer he stays, the more entries he'll have.
I will be extremely pissed if I miss the end of the Arsenal vs. Barcelona match on Wednesday. European soccer is just so much fun. I wish I had HDTV because the World Cup is all in HD! I'm already planning to watch tons of TV in June because not only is there soccer, there is tennis!
I need a new life.

the world's crazy about them!

Eveyone's doing it...everyone's blogging (including me!). Andy Roddick decided to start a his own blog randomly and Thomas Johansson is the new blogger at ATPtennis.com. I haven't checked out the WTA site yet because I was wondering who would succeed Dmitry...
My new obsession is wandering through the
Men's Tennis Forums and randomly posting. So many people with so many different opinions...some of those people can be quite harsh with their judgements. Well at least they still love tennis!
Talking about tennis...they should show it on ESPN2! Then I can watch my favorite players play. Ancic won in a marathon match, Monfils in three sets, and Marat Safin died or something! What the hell happened after a 6-0, 4-1 lead? Well at least Roddick won. The American press is anxious to see him bounce back; personally I'd wait till the grass season. Ancic and Monfils are good on grass too...

I finally got myself to study. Boohoo!!! Maybe I should start acting like Dmitry Tursunov and start adding random exclamation points!!! Yippee!!!!!!!! His blog is just...awesome! I wish I could be that funny...
Random news of the week: Yesterday Tiffany and I were studying on the Diag when we noticed a couple getting married in front of the grad. library. The grad library of all places! That place is ugly! Of course some random strangers yelled "objections" to the marriage. But this wasn't it. The 10 or so people, dressed up for the wedding, had their dance right there for all of us to watch. They didn't even take up any space. Firstly, I would never get married in front of the grad. library. Secondly, I would have gotten chairs and such to sit on. Thirdly, if I was going to get married on the Diag, I would have taken the place over. It wouldn't look as weird then.
Anyway, while I was watching sports on TV, I came to a few conclusions. The first was that guys need to shave. I was watching UCLA versus Penn State in the NCAA men's volleyball final and the guys hadn't shaved due to some superstition. I guess there is nothing wrong with being superstitious, but still...you could look so much better without the facial hair. Just look across the net! And just when I thought only UCLA could be this weird, I see the Cavs sporting beards to show team unity. I wonder who came up with the idea first. And I really hope most guys don't think they look better with a beard. Same thing with long hair. I like the fact that Ginobili cut his long locks. As you can see below, he reminded me of tennis player Tommy Robredo. Look at these pictures stolen off of their bios (from their respective sport sites)!
Tommy Robredo
Manu Ginobili
They are almost going through the opposite phase. Tommy has grown out his hair and Manu used to have long hair and now has short hair. Of course I feel that the shorter haircut looks better. Maybe even on Rafael Nadal. Definitely on Marat Safin though. Really, these guys need to be vain for once and look through their old photos. I certainly do (look through their old pics, hehe).
And lastly, I watched the NCAA women's gymnastics championships even though I knew the results because of Nina Kim (my "lesbian lover" aka favorite gymnast right now)! She was awesome. Otherwise I followed Courtney Kupets, Ashley Miles, and Ashley Postell. Courtney Kupets, I think, is prettier than her sister. And Terin Humphrey still can't find a hair color to match her horrendous makeup. Supposedly Courtney McCool is going to Georgia next fall! I better not miss the Georgia meet next year if it is at U of M.

I'm bored once again so I'm going to make a list of things I hate and love that have come up this past week:

Things I hate:
  • School! These classes I'm taking are boring and a lot of work. Not hard, but extremely boring. I've almost fallen asleep in every class so far.
  • Pre-med kids. Especially when they are in my chemistry class meant for chemistry concentrators. Not for those kids who major in something random and then go to med. school. And I especially hate those kids who are taking this class so that it looks good on their transcript. Come on! I don't want to hear your complaints later.
  • Being bored. Maybe this should be studying because it is impossibly hard to start. Also I think I'm losing interest in the NBA. There needs to be more tennis on TV! And then European soccer or World Cup soccer!
  • The loud noise outside. The apartment next door is getting repairs and they've been drilling and pounding from 8 AM to like 5 PM or so. Otherwise it is too quiet in the apartment because Tiffany is at work for like the whole time. Obviously I should be studying instead of ranting, or running, or lifting, or something productive.
Things I love:
  • Having cable TV. There are many sports events to be watched now.
  • Tennis blogs! Go read them here if you are any bit interested in male tennis. Dmitry is hilarious!
  • Hot tennis player pictures! Enough said. No, they are not pornographic...

Noooo...I have school...

And just like that, my one week of break disappeared. Move out, move in, graduation, eating out, shopping (for food!), cleaning...
Class starts at 10 this morning. I'm up because I can't sleep with so much sun pouring into my room. Otherwise this room is humongous compared to the dorm rooms. Yay for space.

I guess the good news is that I did better than just survive last semester. Surprisingly enough, I got 3 A+ grades in Physics, Chemistry, and my history seminar. I got A grades in both of my labs. I got an A- in Classic Civ. Basically I did better than I expected. Now I'm not so scared of honors physics II next fall...

I'm too lazy to talk. I have tons of sports to watch (why did you lose, Mario?), tons of things to knit (I'm working on both Tempting II and I Do from
Knitty), and tons of food to eat. Studying? What are you talking about?
